Facebook and the First Date

Traditionally the first-date conversations are quite routine. The objective usually is to know the other person and see whether the wavelengths match. You talk superficially about work, family, friends, etc. and try to locate the commonalities. You pay attention to the mannerism, gestures, intonation, etc. and try to construct their personality. It is sort of a game that we all have come to know so well.

Facebook has changed this game.  In most cases we can have all the information from someone’s Facebook profile that we usually seek in the first date! I am not sure whether this will make first dates more successful but I am extremely curious to know how this will play out. Please let me know if there is any study that looks at this aspect of social media.
